blderoche, I hear you but on my mobile I log-in online with a password for banking info, etc. I'm assuming everyone has a mobile (almost), so the question is to keep your landline as an extra or just the mobile. We have to assume that as our mobiles become smarter and more indispensable tools, that privacy and security will arise to the occasion.

My Ex-Wife has the same idea about a landline.
Other reasons:
You are less likeley to lose your landline or have it broken, your house is controlled environment.

Privacy might be another one in case a phone gets lost what happens to all your personal data? (phone numbers, your phone banking info, everything is recorded and displayed or printed on bills)

In the UK its not easy to get broadband services without a phone line as cable TV isnt that big (we tend to use satelite)

I would drop my landline in a second otherwise, waste of money!

no land line, no cable, no tv, and no cell phone, just skype, . Until I can get my hands on iphone 3g! Then a cell phone and laptop.

I love that "shared" can mean so many different things nowadays. I'm sure it's a two-way intentional "shared" in your case. :)

No landline, no cable (TV, yes, but just for DVDs). Just a cell phone and internet connection, shared with the upstairs neighbor via wireless. Why pay for the same thing twice?
